::: background
John MacManus was recommended to us by Grove Farm Stud. John introduced himself to me by telling me that he would probably be my most awkward client yet. The contrary has proved to be the case! John didn't know what he wanted but had some excellent photos of his previous projects and had also written a small amount of text to go with each project.
The next time I spoke to John, I asked him if there was any chance of us taking some photos of flintstones. He accordingly obliged and brought to the office various flints, polished and gleaming for me to photograph. He was intrigued but I made him wait as I wanted him to see the design mock up when it was completely finished. On the day I showed John the design, he didn't say much. He was completely taken aback (in a good way) because, although he had no idea what he wanted, he did not know what was possible either. John took the design away and showed it to everyone that he could and received a favourable response.
::: current
We wanted to give John a very unique and memorable website. Flint work is a niche area and deserved a design that could showcase his work. Now comes the real success story. We published John's site and it went straight to number one with Yahoo and MSN. Google took a while to index it (not normally known for being slow) but when they did, it also went in at number one. John received a genuine job enquiry within 3 hours of the website showing on Google and received 5 genuine enquiries within a week. [view website
]We have said elsewhere, that we don't promise number one spots with the search engines but we do our best. John was very keen that his site was 'found' and is delighted with the response. Although the keywords we concentrated on were 'flint' and 'walls' there were still other sites already previously in that number one spot and so we are quite proud to have reached this excellent position for John. Last time I saw John earlier in June, he was dashing off to price up a job enquiry received from the website
::: the future
As and when John has other projects he would like showcased on the website, we will manage that for him (he opted not to update his website himself). Currently he is involved with another entepreneural venture on which we have already assisted with the logo re-work and will be working on an e-commerce website once the project is further along the road. John wasn't our most difficult client (we're lucky enough to say we don't have any of them) and we are looking forward to the future working together on John's next exciting project.
::: what Flintwalls.com say
My flintwalls.com website has proved to be a success. I receive regular enquiries for my specialist flint work services from the website. A website to advertise my work was the obvious way forward. It was a worthwhile investment.
When it comes to design I usually like to have an input however in this instance after having met Maria for preliminary discussions I decided to leave the website design totally to Maria to see what she came up with. People find Maria’s design of my flint wall website unique and attractive. Feedback has only been positive.
Maria works in an uncomplicated, easy to understand way. This is a bonus when the inexperienced are wanting to get some understanding of how a website is created and how it will eventually work on the various search engines ::: John MacManus
